What’s it called?

David Tennant Does A Podcast With …

Who’s in it and what’s it about?

David Tennant is in it, obviously, plus whoever has agreed to let their name replace the ellipses in the title. As a going concern the podcast is barely out of nappies – it only launched in January – so there are only four episodes to date, but they’re all absolute doozies thanks to Tennant’s skill as an interviewer and the personal connection he often has with the interviewees. It’s pleasingly confessional and expletive-ridden, too, something he and his guests aren't generally allowed to do in their day jobs.

Best bits so far?

The podcast has already made the headlines thanks to Jodie Whitaker’s revelation on it that she was once asked to have some kind of cosmetic “filler” to smooth out her frown line and Whoopi Goldberg’s assertion that she really wanted to be the first female Doctor Who. But it was the banter between Tennant and his other Broadchurch co-star Olivia Colman that had this writer raising his eyebrows and laughing out loud. As well as Whittaker, Goldberg and Colman, Tennant has also had a sit-down chat with Ian McKellen. Here's hoping many more follow.

Fun fact …

Everyone who has worked with him seems to refer to Tennant as “DT”. Oh, and Olivia Colman is known to one and all as “Colly” and if she hadn’t been an actor she could have been a rally driver.

For fans of ...

Broadchurch, BBC satire W1A (in which Tennant does the deadpan voiceover) and that programme about the time-travelling eccentric with the capacious police box and the sonic screwdriver.
