The Herald is taking a look at some of the artists performing at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival - and getting to know the people behind the magic.

What is your Fringe show about?

After three critically acclaimed stand-up shows, this show will be my most personal, provocative and political hour yet. The show explores taboos around abuse and male sexuality with a matter of fact candour and originality… all while being laugh-out-loud funny

How many times have you appeared at the Fringe?

I took a year off last year but before that, I had been to the fringe 5 years in a row.

What’s your most memorable moment from the Fringe?

The moment that springs to mind is once halfway through a show a man’s phone went off. The man stood up and calmly said “don’t worry that is just my alarm to remind me to leave.

Then as he was walking across the stage he told me that he was a professional photographer and handed me a picture he had taken of a topless Daniel Craig. Absolute show-stopper.

What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

It is too long.

If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t a performer I think I would be a therapist. I really like the idea of people telling me their deepest, darkest, most fucked-up secrets and then giving me money.

I imagine there is a lot more to it than that but from the outside, it seems excellent.

How do you prepare for a performance?

I don’t really have a fixed preparation. In the first week, I tend to be fairly sensible, by the end of the festival I am usually a hungover mess.

Favourite thing about being in Edinburgh?

My favourite thing about being in Edinburgh is having a bunch of my mates in the same place at the same time. On the whole, you tend to only see other comics when you are gigging with them so it is great being able to hang out with them all.

Sum up your show in three words

Personal, political, funny.
