Favourite Stories of Courageous Girls was published by Hodder Children’s Books and contains stories from various authors. It is sold at £6.99

What is the book about?

This book is quite a bit different to the sorts of books I’ve reviewed recently as rather than a novel, it is a collection of stories with the common theme of strong female characters. It pieces from some of my personal favourite books including Little Women, and shines a light on well-written, kind and brave girls.

Who is it aimed at?

For this particular book, I personally think it’s something everyone should read, from children and young people to adults. The themes of feminism and recognising truly wonderful characters is something for all ages.

What did you enjoy most about it?

My favourite thing about the book was definitely reading stories from books I haven’t read yet, and being able to add those to my reading list, knowing that I’d find within them a brilliant female character. It can be difficult to choose books to read but Favourite Stories Of Courageous Girls helped me get excited about books I wouldn’t have even heard of without it.

What did you enjoy least?

This book was overall a delightful and eye-opening experience to read but one thing I would have loved to see added to it was a foreword of some sort talking about the importance of good female characters. Some collections I’ve loved have even had little notes at the end of each story and I think something like that would be brilliant with this

Which character would you most like to meet?

This is a difficult one with a book based around characters but of all the brilliant girls in this collection the one I think I would love to meet most is Jo from Little Women, which I read not long ago and adored.

Why should someone buy this book?

I loved reading this book for myself but I think it would make a really excellent and thoughtful gift.
