Like a Boss (15)**

Dir: Miguel Arteta

With: Rose Byrne, Tiffany Haddish, Salma Hayek

Runtime: 83 minutes

ANOTHER COMEDY that packs in everything, including a right-on message about sisters doing it for themselves in business, but forgets the most important commodity – laughs.

Rose Byrne and Tiffany Haddish are Mel and Mia, best friends forever. They both love make up and open their own small shop. Pragmatic Mel and ideas-woman Mia balance each other nicely, but when ruthless business woman Claire (Salma Hayek, above, centre, with Haddish and Byrne) buys into the business and demands big changes will the friendship between the gal pals be able to take the strain? You can guess the answer to that as easily as every other poser in Miguel Arteta’s comedy. While Byrne and Haddish make a likeable pair, and no film with Jennifer Coolidge (For Your Consideration) is entirely a waste of time, the comedy is baggy and unfocused. It’s a measure of how little there is in the film that even at just 83 minutes it feels stretched.
