I style fashion shoots for the Herald Magazine and Sunday Herald, as well as contributing written pieces on fashion and lifestyle subjects.  Since joining in 2007, I have been fortunate enough to travel around Scotland on occasions to work on fashion shoots for our titles. I was even sent to Paris for a fashion shoot for the Sunday Herald a few years back – a definite career highlight. My other interests include music, film and interiors.

The rules: From a male grooming guru

It's not quite an Abraham Lincoln-type beard - it is a less bizarre-looking beard than that as I don't like when it starts to get out of control. There is definitely a fashion for beards and some men have them for the sake of the trend but I think there is a general rise in the number of men that are happy having one and are happy looking after it. It is more culturally acceptable than it was a few years ago to have a beard. Having the right products to look after it helps as it can be itchy and it can be tricky to maintain. 2014 Commonwealth Games Team Scotland tartan - a fashion stylist's opinion

The main problem with the design is the disjointed mix of colours that do not sit well together. Blackwood has claimed that she took inspiration from the Scottish seasons so I am baffled why this has resulted in the choice of fuchsia, turquoise and caramel. These are colours that, to my mind, do not represent the landscape of Scotland. This tartan looks like it was created with somewhere warm and vibrant like Miami in mind as where is the forest green, brown and heather purple that we associate with Scotland's natural landscapes and countryside?
