LAW firm Gillespie Macandrew has appointed two new partners following after making changes to its management structure.

Agnes Mallon and Alan White bring the Edinburgh-based firm's partnr count to 18.

Ms Mallon is a contentious trusts and executries specialist, while White is an experienced member of the land and rural business team. He has particular expertise on agricultural holdings and renewable energy projects.

Gillespie Macandrew has made a further eight promotions. Alan Minty, James Mackinnon and Stephen Gamba have been promoted to legal director, Michelle McNeill has been elevated to associate and Collette Kerr to associate tax director.

In addition, Lois Browning, Gillian Campbell, and Ewelina Kurek have been promoted to senior Solicitor.

Chairman Murray Shaw said: "We recently announced our intention to lead growth and development from within the firm and these new appointments ensure we have the correct people and structure in place to grow the business. These appointments reflect the hard work and ability of each individual along with their contributions to their teams and the firm."

FORTH Ports has appointed Sharon Currie as its new business development manager for Scotland.

Ms Currie is senior sales executive with more than 20 years' experience in the international freight logistics sector. She has previously held sales manager roles with TPC Freight Management and MOL Europe, and was global sales manager at Brain Logistics.

Ms Currie, who joins in June, will work across Forth's Scottish operation, which includes the commercial ports of Leith, Grangemouth, Rosyth and Dundee. It employs more than 1150 staff.

Divisional director Stuart Wallace said: "We look forward to Sharon joining the Scottish team in June. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of the sector and has a strong track record in delivering results. We are a busy, dynamic business and Sharon will be a key part in delivering our business strategy going forward."

Ms Currie said: "I am delighted to join Forth Ports in this new role. I have been in the supply chain industry for over 20 years and I enjoy working in the sector. I am looking forward to getting started in the summer."

SHEPHERD Chartered Surveyors has hired Lesley Dryden as a surveyor in the commercial department of its Dundee office.

Ms Dryden, who has an honours degree in interior architecture from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, and an MA in European Real Estate from Kingston University, has worked for practices in London.

At Shepherd, her work will involve Red Book valuations, rent reviews, lease renewals and development and investment consultancy services.

Ms Dryden said: "After having worked in London for many years, I am looking forward to utilising my skills in my home country. I'm delighted to become part of the Shepherd team and am looking forward to playing a part in the expansion of the business throughout the Tayside region."

Gerry McCluskey, commercial partner at Shepherd's Dundee office, said: "Lesley's appointment will complement and enhance our local commercial property operations and we look forward to growing our commercial department throughout the region."

ABBEYFIELD Scotland, the housing charity for older people, has added Jean Henretty to its management board.

Ms Henretty joins with more than 25 years' experience as a community development worker, having recently worked in Aberdeen City Council's social work and housing department.

She was a nurse for 10 years, working with the elderly in the NHS, before moving into community work.

Ms Henretty chairs the Banchory & District Initiatives and Marr Area Partnership charitable trusts, and is a former member of the Banchory Community Council and Community Development Trusts.

Abbeyfield Scotland Chairman, Jim Craigie said: "Jean's recruitment to the Board complements the recent appointments of Ian Craig and Kevin Toner which all serve to strengthen the existing skills mix as we take forward a new business model underpinned by Abbeyfield Scotland's values and experience.
