Printing entrepreneur John Watson has donated £100,000 to Glasgow Chamber of Commerce to help support small businesses in the city.

Mr Watson, who sold his family printing firm in 2013 to US giant Multi-Color Corporation, made the contribution at the Glasgow Business Awards last night where plant hire firm Gap Group picked up three prizes.

The company was named most outstanding business, the best performing firm with more than 51 staff and also took home the trophy for people development.

Baron Gordon of Strathblane, who launched Radio Clyde, was given the lifetime achievement award at the ceremony organised by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.

Other winners included insulation firm AC Whyte and Co, which won the family business prize for the third year in a row, and Barrhead Travel which picked up the award for creative marketing.
