The company behind proposals to build a wind farm at Caplich in Sutherland has pledged to invest £14,000 to help develop skills and training opportunities in Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty.

Muirhall Energy, which operates a windfarm in Lanarkshire, has signed agreements with training providers in Assynt, Ullapool, Creich, Ardgay and Lairg.

Training will be made available over the next five months through the Lairg and District Learning Centre, Assynt Leisure Centre, the Macphail Centre, the Scottish Crofting Federation and West Highland College in Ullapool.

Courses will include chainsaw training, digital literacy training and health and wellbeing courses, as well as courses to boost the crofting sector.
