SCOTLANDIS, the trade body for Scotland’s digital technologies sector, has been accredited by European Commission Directorate for Enterprise and Industry, through its European Cluster Excellence Initiative.

It becomes the first Scottish organisation to be accredited by the initiative.

With encouragement and support from Scottish Enterprise, ScotlandIS completed a detailed interview process to achieve the bronze award and become the only creative industries trade body in the UK to be accredited.

Polly Purvis, chief executive of ScotlandIS, said she was delighted to have attained the accreditation, adding that it was a reflection of the work being done by ScotlandIS on behalf of its members.

“Strong clusters promote economic growth, leveraging innovation and business potential to generate new employment opportunities, new products and services, new companies, new R&D activities and new patents,” she said.

Ms Purvis said that ScotlandIS had a goal of attaining silver and gold level accreditation in due course.
