MGM Timber has acquired Hamilton-based Robert Reid & Sons, which it says will allow it meet ambitious plans to grow turnover of the business by at least 50 per cent in the next two years.

The addition of Robert Reid & Son will enable MGM Timber to better service customers in the surrounding area in addition to its existing branches in Glasgow, Wishaw and Ayrshire.

It will continue to trade under its existing name and all existing staff will be retained.

MGM Timber announced expansion plans earlier this year, having grown turnover to £42 million. It is currently looking for premises in Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

David Mansell, managing director for MGM Timber, said: “This addition will enable us to suitably service customers in the west of Scotland to help meet consumer demand.”
