C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 83 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 269p per kg and an average of 207p (-3.1p on the fortnight), while 47 store bullocks peaked at 273.4p and levelled at 227.1p (+7.7p). Forty-five store bulls sold to 264.1p and averaged 191.2p (no comparison).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 26 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 254p and an average of 224.8p (-13.6p on the week), while 12 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 224.2p (-0.5p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 164.5p and averaged 150.3p (+10.2p).

The firm also sold 902 prime hoggs to a top of £109 per head and 254p per kg to average 190p (-32.8p), while 101 prime lambs peaked at £130.50 and 302p to level at 254p (-18.3p).

The 189 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £120.50 for a Texel and averaged £72.22, while 140 light/export-type ewes peaked at £87.50 for a Cheviot and levelled at £64.14.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 8 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 245p and an average of 235.9p, while 3 prime bullocks peaked at 231p and levelled at 219.4p.

In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 143.6p and 38 dairy cows levelled at 114.5p. Nine bulls averaged 119.8p and 7 clean OTM cattle levelled at 137.2p.

There were only 4 dairy cattle on offer that sold to £1320 for a second-calved Holstein Friesian and averaged £1101.

Wallets Marts sold 68 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £96 and 224.2p to average 186.6p (-7.8p), while 111 prime lambs peaked at £130 and 271.1p to level at 251.4p (-10p).

There were also 174 heavy cast ewes that sold to £110 for Texels and averaged £76.48, while 30 light ewes peaked at £68 for Blackfaces and levelled at £45.60.
