Wallets Marts sold 620 Blackface ewe hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £310 each for a pen off JW Kay & Co, Gass, Straiton to average £128.82 (-£4 on the year), while 242 Scotch Mule ewe hoggs peaked at £130 for a pen off Garrochtrie and levelled at £119.46 (+£12.20).
A small show of store cattle saw 6 heifers average £624.17 per head or 206.9p per kg, while 22 bullocks levelled at £812 or 191.5p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 227 prime hoggs at Ayr to a top of £109.50 per head and 211.5p to average 176.8p (-12.6p on the week), while 265 prime lambs peaked at £141 and 286.4p to level at 250.6p (+3.6p).
There were also 219 heavy cast ewes that averaged £92.84, while 165 light/export-type ewes levelled at £72.06.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 38 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 231p (+3p), while 23 prime bullocks peaked at 250p and levelled at 227p (+4p).
In the rough ring 25 beef cows sold to 185p and averaged 152p (+4p).
There were also 173 prime hoggs that sold to £133 and 211p to average 173p (-21p), while 266 prime lambs peaked at £151 and 317p to level at 292p (+20p).
A nice show of 333 cast sheep saw heavy ewes average £101 and light ewes level at £70.
The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 244.5p and an average of 209.9p (+13.5p), while 34 prime beef-bred bullocks peaked at 237.5p and levelled at 210p (-7p). A couple of prime, dairy-bred bullocks averaged 155.5p. Sixty-nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 229.5p and averaged 193.3p (+7.2p), while 67 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 187.5p and levelled 160.1p (-1.2p).
In the rough ring 167 beef cows sold to 225.5p and averaged 151.9p (+1.6p), while 229 dairy cows peaked at 161.5p and levelled at 118.3p (+4.6p).
There were also 180 prime hoggs that sold to £124.80 and 228.2p to average 178.9p (-17.8p), while 313 prime lambs peaked at £147.80 and 311.7p to level at 269.8p (+26.6p).
The 112 heavy cast ewes forward averaged £86.58, while 9 light ewes levelled at £62.05.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 260p and an average of 228.2p (+4.1p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 238p and levelled at 224p (no change). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 159.5p and averaged 144.1p (-6.2p).
There were also 580 prime hoggs that sold to £121.50 and 211.3p to average 184.9p (-5.1p), while 90 prime lambs peaked at £130 and 300p to level at 251.3p (-2.7p).
One-hundred-and-fifty heavy cast ewes averaged £84.71 and 69 light ewes levelled at £64.28.
