Seventeen store, B&W bullocks sold to 161.8p and averaged 132.6p (-13.4p), while 3 store bulls peaked at 241.7p and levelled at 190p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1598 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £100 per head and 215.9p per kg to average 186.3p (+8.9p on the week).

There were also 314 heavy cast ewes that sold to £144.50 for a Texel and averaged £89.60, while 120 light/export-type ewes peaked at £68 for Blackfaces and levelled at £40.50.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 38 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 230p (+4p), while 25 prime bullocks peaked at 251p and levelled at 216p (+5p).

In the rough ring 52 beef cows sold to 191p and averaged 137p (-3p).

There were also 1153 prime lambs that sold to £114 and 211p to average 192p (+8.3p).

A good show of 484 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £123 for Suffolks and average £89, while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £40.

The firm also sold 5 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 239.5p and an average of 218.5p (+22.3p), while 16 prime bullocks peaked at 232.5p and levelled at 208.2p (-0.9p). Forty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 225.5p and averaged 183.2p (-4.4p), while 39 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 182.5p and levelled at 150p (-3.6p).

In the rough ring 86 beef cows sold to 173.5p and averaged 113.1p (-20.3p), while 178 dairy cows peaked at 133.5p and averaged 88.8p (-12.1p). Eight bulls sold to 154.5p and averaged 117.9p (-8p).

There were also 2250 prime lambs that sold to £104.80 and 252.1p to average 191.3p (+5.7p).

The 198 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £101.50 for Texels and averaged £69.58, while 18 light ewes peaked at £41.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £29.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 261p and an average of 240.5p (no change), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 218p and levelled at 216p (+2.1p). Five prime, B&W bullocks sold to 154.5p and averaged 132.5p (no comparison).

In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 125p (-3p) and 35 dairy cows levelled at 101p (-8p). Three bulls averaged 110p (+10p).

The firm also sold 1865 prime lambs to a top of £103 and 225p to average 185p (+7p).

A large show of cast sheep saw 342 heavy ewes sell to £134 for Texels and average £85.68, while 863 light ewes peaked at £79 for Cheviots and levelled at £40.
