Wallets Marts sold 47 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £1,045 per head and 208.6p per kg to average £829 or 192.3p, while 73 store bullocks peaked at £1,110 and 214.7p to level at £923 or 200.1p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,826 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £80 per head and 176.5p per kg to average 155.4p (-5.5p on the week).

There were also 395 heavy cast ewes that sold to £147 for a Texel and averaged £72.20, while 320 light/export-type ewes peaked at £52.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £38.90.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 54 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 218p (+1p), while 22 prime bullocks peaked at 239p and levelled at 209p (+2p).

In the rough ring 68 beef cows sold to 165p and averaged 115p (-6p).

There were also 1,207 prime lambs that sold to £99 and 186p to average 160p (no change).

The 555 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £101 for Texels and average £85, while light ewes peaked at £63 for South Country Cheviots and levelled at £40.

The firm also sold 16 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 233.5p and an average of 208.9p (+5.3p), while eight prime bullocks peaked at 215.5p and levelled at 185p (-24.3p). Sixty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 225.5p and averaged 190p (+2.7p), while 28 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 173.5p and levelled at 146.3p (-6.5p).

In the rough ring 208 beef cows sold to 183.5p and averaged 110.8p (-9.8p), while 181 dairy cows peaked at 139.5p and levelled at 80.8p (-5p). Six bulls sold to 134.5p and averaged 101.8p (-11.5p).

There were also 1,404 prime lambs that sold to £95.80 and 229.1p to average 171.1p (+4.8p).

A nice show of cast sheep saw 173 heavy ewes sell to £108.50 for Texels and average £69.97, while 124 light ewes peaked at £62.50 for Jacobs and level at £30.64.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 32 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 263p and an average of 238p (-5p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 231p (-6p). Twelve prime, B&W bullocks sold to 160p and averaged 143p (+8p), while seven prime bulls levelled at 205p (no comparison).

In the rough ring 51 beef cows averaged 112p (no change) and 48 dairy cows levelled at 88p (+1p).

There were also 2,899 prime lambs that sold to £92 and 205p to average 158p (-9p).

A large show of cast sheep saw 786 heavy ewes sell to £146 for a Texel and average £65.32, while 797 light ewes peaked at £51 for a Cheviot and levelled at £33.32.
