C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 105 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 232.3p per kg and an average of 189p (+0.9p on the fortnight), while 116 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 252.3p and levelled at 202.4p (-2.9p). Twenty-eight store, B&W bullocks sold to 141.2p and averaged 130.7p (-0.7p), while a pen of 8 store bulls fetched 200p 9 (no comparison).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1237 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £87 per head and 206p per kg to average 161.9p (+1.5p on the week).

Cast sheep were slightly sharper on the week with 348 heavy ewes selling to £145.50 for Texels and averaging £79.40, while 350 light/export-type ewes peaked at £78.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £33.40.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 35 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 264p and an average of 226.2p (+11p), while 27 prime bullocks peaked at 252p and levelled at 212p (no change).

In the rough ring 58 beef cows sold to 177p and averaged 111.3p (-14p).

There were also 2035 prime lambs that sold to £95 and 216p to average 165.5p (-2.5p).

The 731 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £97 for Texels and average £77, while light ewes peaked at £81 for Cheviots and levelled at £30.

The firm also sold 19 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 237.5p and an average of 207.5p (+23.6p), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 224.5p and levelled at 195.8p (-15.9p). Forty-eight prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 233.5p and averaged 192.4p (+3.1p), while 29 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 177.5p and levelled at 148.2p (+1.3p).

In the rough ring 89 beef cows sold to 187.5p and averaged115.6p (+1.9p), while 177 dairy cows peaked at 147.5p and levelled at 87.5p (+4.6p). Nine bulls sold to 129.5p and averaged 109.2p (-7.3p).

There were also 1416 prime lambs that sold to £101.80 and 242p to average 165.9p (-1.2p).

A modest show of 134 heavy cast ewes sold to £117 for Texels and averaged £62.64, while 26 light ewes peaked at £55.50 for Herdwicks and levelled at £28.26.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 28 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 256p and an average of 239p (+1p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 230p (-1p). Nine prime, B&W bullocks sold to 142p and averaged 130p (-10p).

In the rough ring 49 beef cows averaged 106p (no change) and 44 dairy cows levelled at 85p (+1p).

There were also 1343 prime lambs that sold to £100 and 238p to average 162p (+1p).

A large show of cast sheep saw 451 heavy ewes sell to £150 for a Texel and average £61.65, while 343 light ewes peaked at £54 for a Blackface and levelled at £24.03.
