AIRDRIE-based Albert Bartlett has won a contract to supply 590 Asda stores in the UK with an own-label mashed potato range.

The supply deal includes all of Asda’s 60 Scottish stores, with the supermarket chain noting it followed an £18 million investment by Albert Bartlett in a “state-of-the-art” chilled factory in Airdrie. Asda noted this was Albert Bartlett’s first venture into own-label chilled products. The deal covers a range of mashed potato products. These include mashed sweet potato and cheese mash, as well as standard mashed potato.

The Airdrie company has worked with Asda for more than 12 years.

Alan Roberts, head of sales at Albert Bartlett said: “We are delighted to secure our first national listing for our new chilled range. This marks the start of Albert Bartlett’s diversification into chilled prepared potatoes."
