Jingle all the way

THE Christmas crowdfunding campaign currently in full swing at Brewgooder is funding work being led by the University of Strathclyde to provide clean water in Malawi.

The Jingle Wells drive launched on November 26 and has already raised more than half of his £12,000 target, with the money being directed to the Strathclyde Water Futures Programme led by professor Bob Kalin.

The university noted that the programme would help repair 12 broken wells in remote villages in Malawi. Professor Kalin said: “We’re delighted to receive the support of Brewgooder.

“The company recognises that to ensure a long-term solution to delivering clean water for all, we need to take a sustained, integrated and data-driven approach to water assets.”

Speyside icon

IT is likely to be a Christmas to remember for Sandy McIntyre of Speyside’s Tamdhu Distillery.

Mr McIntyre, who is responsible for all aspects of production and warehousing at Tamdhu, was named “whisky icon of the year” by Whisky Magazine at a ceremony in Edinburgh, where a host of leading bars, producers and retailers were also recognised.

Mr McIntyre said: “I’m extremely proud to have been recognised by my industry peers with this prestigious accolade, which is a great reflection on the whole team here at Tamdhu.”

High life

STILL on the topic of awards, ACS Aviation is also flying high.

The company, which offers pilot training and aircraft maintenance services from its Perth Airport base, lifted a gong from The Business Star Awards in recognition of is success in attracting overseas business to Perthshire.

Managing director Graeme Frater said: “Receiving this award is a huge honour and reward for our team’s efforts to provide the best flight training and aircraft maintenance services in the country”.
