JOHN Menzies has welcomed the Competition and Markets Authority’s decision to grant provisional approval for the acquisition of the Airline Services business it announced in April. The watchdog completed an in-depth probe into the deal amid concerns it could restrict choice for airlines at some key airports in England and Scotland for de-icing and ground handling. The CMA found the market for ground handling services is dynamic while there was limited competition between Edinburgh-based John Menzies and Airline Services in de-icing. It will make a final decision next year.
