LOGANAIR has handed a five-year contract to Stobart Aviation Services to provide passenger handling and ramp services for its flights at Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, writes Scott Wright.

Stobart will invest £1 million in new ground handling units to support the contract, with its services on the Loganair flights due to begin in March. The arrangement will see Stobart handle more than 500 departures and arrivals per week across the two airports.

The deal comes shortly after Loganair announced its first-ever flight to Germany. The daily flight between Glasgow Airport and Dusseldorf will begin on March 31.

Maurice Boyle, chief operations officer at Loganair, said: “Scotland’s airline has exciting growth plans at Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports for 2019, with new routes already announced and hopefully more to come. Our new partnership with Stobart Aviation Services will support this growth and ensure that every customer travelling through Glasgow and Edinburgh on over 500 Loganair flights each week receives the highest standards of service.”

Graeme Undy, managing director of Stobart Aviation, said: “We are delighted that Loganair has chosen Stobart Aviation Services to serve its valued customers at Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports.”
