A HONG Kong financial services technology specialist has received £305,000 of Regional Selective Assistance from taxpayer-backed Scottish Enterprise to support the creation of 20 jobs with the establishment of an Edinburgh operation.

Inward investment agency Scottish Development International said Actelligent Company would make Edinburgh its UK and European base.

SDI noted Actelligent was developing an online platform to act as a hub between investors, private fund managers and retail investors and connect investors with new opportunities in overseas markets.

It added that Actelligent would, from Edinburgh, build a team of software engineers and architects to support technical development of its online platform, and engage compliance and financial experts to support analytical and research services.

Charmaine Lo, chief executive of Actelligent, said: “We’re delighted to be the first fintech company from Hong Kong landing in Scotland with the help of SDI, and we have been overwhelmed by the level of support we’ve received.”

David Leven, head of Greater China for SDI, said: “Actelligent joins the growing list of fintech firms operating out of Scotland, having been attracted by Edinburgh’s growing reputation as an international leader in this field. We’ve worked closely with Actelligent since its first visit to Scotland in May.”
