AGGREKO boss Chris Weston saw his overall remuneration fall by nearly 30 per cent in 2018.

The former Centrica chief received a package worth nearly £1.7 million in 2018, according to the temporary power specialist’s annual report, published yesterday. Mr Weston had earned £2.3m the year before.

The 2018 report shows that Mr Weston, who succeeded Rupert Soames at Aggreko in 2015, received a base salary of £750,000 in 2018, in line with the previous year, while his annual bonus dipped to £651,000 from £721,500.

Mr Weston had also received £598,865 in 2017 relating to shares granted on March 30, 2015.

Aggreko’s 2017 report states that 50% of the shares were released on April 1, 2016, with the remaining 50% released on April 3, 2017.

As well as his base salary and bonus, Mr Weston’s remuneration for 2018 included pension contributions of £225,000, and other benefits worth £26,324.

Aggreko reported earlier this month that its profits had dipped by four per cent to £182m in 2018, with its bottom line affected by adverse currency headwinds.

However, the company reported that group turnover had risen by 4% to £1.76 billion, with resurgent activity in

the US shale sector driving a 19% increase in revenue to £822m in its dominant rental solutions business.

Mr Weston said there was “no evidence” of any downturn in the shale market.

Aggreko announced on Thursday it has secured a contract to provide power services to the Rugby World Cup in Japan later this year.
