Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 36 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 245p/kg and an average of 216.6p (+2p on the week), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 244p and levelled at 216.3p (+10p).
In the rough ring 37 cast cows sold to a top of £1232 and 159p to average 136.5p (+14p).
There were also 1440 prime hoggs that sold to £115 and 266p for Beltex hoggs to average 188p (+3p).
The 445 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £139 for Texels and average £90, while light ewes peaked at £85 for Cheviots and levelled at £56.
The firm also sold 19 prime, beef bred heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 230.5p and an average of 204.7p (+0.5 p), while 18 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224.5p and levelled at 208p (+9.3p). Forty five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 217.5p and averaged 179.8p (+5.7p), while 51 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 168.5p and levelled at 142p (-2 p).
In the rough ring 171 Cast dairy cows sold to 143.5p and averaged 105.3p (-1.2p), while 119 cast beef cows sold to 174.5p and averaged 136.7p.
There were also 1728 prime hoggs that sold to £118.80 and 304.6p to average 185p (-2p).
The small show of cast sheep forward this week were a brisk trade when 73 heavy ewes sold to £113.50 for Texels and average £85.50 (+£14.15), while 5 light ewes peaked at £67.50 for Hill Cheviots & Blackface and levelled at £39.49.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1997 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £99 per head for Beltex and 222.4p/ kg for Texels, to average 187.5p (+3p on the week). The large show of 830 Blackface hoggs, included in the sale, was topped at £91 and 203.1p to average186.5p.
The cast sheep entry saw 190 heavy ewes sell to £148 for Texels and average £90.40 (+£10 on the week), while 310 light/export-type ewes peaked at £77.50 for Blackface and levelled at £59.84 (+£3.40)
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 252p and an average of 236p (+1p), while 2 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 223p and levelled at 218p (-2p). Five, B&W bullocks sold to 152p and averaged 140p (n/c).
In the rough ring 32 beef cows averaged 120p (-3p) and 18 dairy cows levelled at 94p (-1p).
A large show of 3354 prime hoggs sold to £118 and 274p to average 188p (-6 p).
In the cast sheep section 407 heavy ewes sold to £145 for a Texel and averaged £87.67, while 808 light/export ewes peaked at £81 for a Cheviot and levelled at £59.26
