THE winners were last night unveiled for the 2019 s1jobs Recruitment Awards, highlighting the achievements of companies and industry leaders across Scotland.

A packed audience of more than 500 guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow saw the winners of 17 awards revealed by comedian and television star Katherine Ryan.

It was the eighth time the annual awards were held, with the 2019 event staged in association with Fyte and sponsored by Anderson Knight, Broadbean, Badenoch + Clark, Bullhorn, Career Ready, Contact Scotland, Demand Talent, esure, Firefish Software, Gillespie People Solutions, Manpower Group Solutions, Margaret Hodge Recruitment, Net Talent, Peace Recruitment Group and Reed.

Alistair Shaw, regional director of Fyte, said: “What a great event celebrating the best in our industry. The quality of all finalists was the highest we’ve seen. A strong recruitment sector is hugely important for the success of the Scottish economy and with these worthy winners in role, we are in good shape. Congratulations to everyone.”

The evening’s highlights included the presentation of the Chairman’s Award, sponsored by Reed, which this year was given to Paul Atkinson of Taranta Group.

The award for Best Recruitment Consultancy (Scottish operations), sponsored by Demand Talent, went to Denholm Associates, with Blue Arrow named Best Recruitment Consultancy for firm’s with UK and international operations (sponsored by Demand Talent).

Craig Dunn, business director at Demand Talent, said: “Thanks to all who came and celebrated with the best of our industry and a massive congratulations to the winners and finalists who made it through in what was a very competitive year. We personally found it a perfect way to end and celebrate our own first year in business.”

Isabel Muller of Search Consultancy was unveiled as the Best Recruitment Consultant of the Year, sponsored by Gillespie People Solutions. And Ardour Solutions was the best newcomer among recruitment consultancies (sponsored by Broadbean).

The Best Use of Social Media in Recruitment award, sponsored by Peace Recruitment Group, went to Sky via Manpower Group Solutions. Chris Peace, managing director at Peace, said: “The s1job Awards is the premium event in the Scottish recruitment event calendar, and last night did not disappoint. Congratulations to all shortlisted finalists and huge credit to all the winners on the night.”

Babcock, via Blackbrigde, won the Best Digital Creative award, sponsored by esure, while Blackbridge was also commended for its work with Rolls-Royce. Angela Renfrew, recruitment manager at esure, said: “Congratulations on your well-deserved success in winning this award. It is fantastic recognition for your teams hard work throughout the year.”

The University of Edinburgh triumphed in the Best Apprenticeship/Graduate Award, and Alan Shave, associate director of award sponsor Contract Scotland said: “The 2019 awards were bigger and better than ever. It was brilliant to hear all the stories of success and to celebrate just how strong the recruitment industry is in Scotland.”

The awards also celebrated a charity organisation which demonstrated an ongoing commitment to employees and has established itself as an outstanding place to work. The Best Charity Employer Award, sponsored by Badenoch + Clark, was presented to Simon Community Scotland for placing its employees at the heart of the business.

Scott Miller, director of Badenoch + Clark in Scotland, said: “Congratulations to all of the finalists and the winner of the Best Charity Employer. It’s great to see the innovative approaches taken by our finalists who deliver essential services for our communities at a local and national level.”

Tesco Bank won the Best Recruitment Video, sponsored by Manpower Group Solutions. The sponsor said: “The s1jobs awards allow Scotland’s recruitment sector to shine and to showcase its incredible talent.”
