Food delivery operator Just Eat has acquired Practi, a software service that provides independent restaurants and small chains with tablet-based point-of-sale systems.
The deal, which cost an initial £6.7 million, is intended to strengthen its relationship with restaurant partners, the company said.
It will see the delivery giant deploy new tablets or install Practi software on to Just Eat orderpads to provide an integrated system dealing with payment handling, management and kitchen operations.
Just Eat interim CEO Peter Duffy said restaurant owners were "calling for this type of software to help manage their businesses".

The acquisition follows its £22 million deal to buy fellow software provider Flyt in January. Shares rose 0.9% to 739.8.
Recruitment firm Hays reported a marked slowdown in profit growth in the third quarter, blaming tough comparatives in Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
The group posted 6% net fee growth, led by a 7% increase in revenues from its international businesses.
It saw 9% like-for-like growth in the rest of the world segment on the back of "excellent" growth in China and "good" growth in France.

Net fees rose 3% across its UK and Ireland arm in the quarter, buoyed by increased IT job placements.
The outlook remains "positive across most markets", chief executive Alistair Cox said. Shares in the company fell 3.1% to 158.1.
G4S, the security giant, has posted first quarter revenue growth and said it is making progress in the separation of its cash business.
Revenues for the first quarter to March 31 rose 4.8% on the back of growth across all regions and divisions.
Its secure solutions division, the company's largest area, delivered 4.9% revenue growth propelled by large rises in Africa and the Americas, up 9.3% and 8.5% respectively.
Revenues from its cash solutions business rose 4.4% as it was buoyed by more than 30% growth in its North America retail cash business.
