A failure to secure free access to the EU market after Brexit could result in tariffs being slapped on exports from Scotland’s cities worth £7.3 billion to the economy, a think tank has warned.

The Centre for Cities found that 38% of Scottish cities’ exports are sold to the EU. “With 43% of its exports going to the EU, Dundee ranks as the Scottish city most likely to be impacted by any post-Brexit trade barriers, while Aberdeen is least exposed with 30% of its exports being sold in the bloc,” said the centre. It found 41% of exports from both Edinburgh and Glasgow went to EU countries.
