WATER company Brightwater has topped £4.75 million in contracted revenues after its third year of trading.

The Musselburgh-based supplier, which provides water and waste water services to businesses and other non-domestic customers, said it increased its contracted revenues by more than £1.6m in the last 12 months and is currently managing more than 3,600 commercial premises across Scotland.

Brightwater, which has 10 staff with more due to be taken on this year, said its growth has come on the back of significant new business wins over the past year.

New customers include Thistle Healthcare, Optos, Simon Howie Butchers, Highland Industrial Supplies, and United Wholesale Grocers, on top of customers including the SSPCA, Port of Cromarty Firth, St James’s Place Wealth Management and Kangaroo Self-Storage.

The firm has generated a modest profit this year which, after three years trading, is in line with its projections, it said.

Brightwater was set up by its managing director Rich Rankin and Spotless Commercial Cleaning founder Roger Green and its board includes chairman Steve Langmead, a former chief executive of Capita Scotland and existing non-executive director at IT firm Commsworld.

Last month the company announced it had secured more than £350,000 in private external investment to help further develop its package of services.

It is also investing in its team with plans to announce new senior appointments later in the summer. Its business model is based on delivering cost savings through competitive pricing, efficiency optimisation and customer service.

Mr Green said: “Our focus on providing added value water and wastewater services to Scottish SMEs continues to deliver value to the business.

"Brightwater is currently within touching distance of £5m in contracted revenues, with the additional planned investment in people and customer services, we are confident we will achieve our aim of surpassing the £12m mark within the next three to five years.”
