Bright future

DM Hall is toasting the success of four young members of staff, who have qualified as members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

The firm of independent chartered surveyors said Rachel McCall in Falkirk, Ross Chinnery in Edinburgh, Claire Hutton and Grant Bremner in Glasgow have passed the institution’s final professional hurdle, the Assessment of Professional Competence.

Eric Curran, managing partner of DM Hall, said: “We are delighted that four of our young professionals have qualified as RICS members. Collectively they represent our firm’s commitment to invest in the future of our profession, and we are very proud of their achievement.

“We warmly congratulate Rachel, Ross, Claire and Grant on their well-deserved examination results and wish them lots of success and professional satisfaction in the years to come.”

Revelation

RON Young, co-founder of the newly-launched Contract Bottlers Glasgow, brings a broad range of drinks industry experience to the new venture, some of it you might find surprising.

Mr Young and business partner Adrian Louden hope their new state-of-the-art bottling line in Cumbernauld will transform the export prospects for small Scottish spirits producers, as revealed in The Herald on Tuesday. Noting that the wine industry has always prioritised the value of good quality packaging, Mr Young said: “I bottled wine in Newcastle, which is something you don’t hear that often.”

Charity boost

A local charity working to combat the causes and effects of homelessness has received a boost thanks to law firm Irwin Mitchell.

Staff in the firm’s Glasgow office raised £6,555 to support Simon Community Scotland.

The money was raised as part of the firm’s Charity of the Year programme, developed by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation. The foundation has now donated more than £2 million to third sector organisations, having raised £284,000 last year.
