SCOTTISH Building Society has formally unveiled its new chief executive.

Paul Denton has officially taken over the top job at the historic mutual from Mark Thomson, after his appointment was rubber-stamped by regulators.

Mr Denton joins the society with more than 25 years’ experience in the banking sector, having started his career with Royal Bank of Scotland.

Most recently he was managing director of funeralcare operations at the Co-operative Group.

Chairman Raymond Abbott said Mr Denton will be an “excellent asset” to the society.
