CHEEKY Chompers, the Scottish baby-care products company which pioneered the chewable dribble bib, has landed a deal to supply 444 LloydsPharmacy stores in the UK.

The Scottish company notedthe supply deal was its first UK-wide pharmacy chain partnership. It will supply LloydsPharmacy with its Cheeky Essentials Neckerchew. Cheeky Chompers noted this was a lower-priced, lighter version of its award-winning Neckerchew product, which has proved popular in the UK and in overseas markets including the US, the People’s Republic of China, and Taiwan.

Cheeky Chompers founders Julie Wilson and Amy Livingstone met when they were both on maternity leave with their first children, and launched the company in 2013.

Ms Wilson said: “We’re really pleased to have teamed up with LloydsPharmacy, a trusted brand in the pharmacy market. Our new Essentials Neckerchew is [a] perfect fit to cater for their customer base. Many parents of teething babies will go to their local pharmacy for a solution. Initial sell-through has been fantastic so we look forward to a great partnership going forward.”

Cheeky Chompers is currently engaged in a crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising £400,000 to drive further expansion. It noted it had achieved more than half of its target in the first five days.

Ms Wilson said: “Our crowdfund is…progressing well in the background with over 50 per cent invested in the first five days. The team and I are excited about the next phase of growth for Cheeky Chompers.”

The company plans to use the proceeds of the crowdfunding drive, on Crowdcube, to scale up the business through new product development, direct-sales growth and increasing brand awareness in key markets.

Exports now account for about 65% of Cheeky Chompers’ sales, with the company having 31 distributors globally.

Cheeky Chompers’ products are sold in retail chains including John Lewis, JoJo Maman Bebe, Tesco, Boots and Nordstrom. The company has developed collaborative products with retailers including Joules and The White Company.

John Acland, head of retail for LloydsPharmacy, said: “We know that parents come into [the] pharmacy looking for advice and products to help support their children’s teething stage, so we are delighted to offer our customers the Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew.”
