LANDOWNER Richard Tuxford has boosted his property portfolio with the purchase of the 9,800-acre East Glenquoich Estate in the west Highlands.

The estate, which includes 1,200 acres of woodland, deer stalking and fishing rights, borders Tomdoun Estate, also owned by Mr Tuxford, where Peter Pan author JM Barrie holidayed with his children. Mr Tuxford said the deal will allow him to offer fishing and shooting breaks on a larger scale by combining the two estates.

Four jobs are now expected to be created at the estate, where planning permission is in place to use the land for generating renewable energy. The overall value of the acquisition, which was supported by £1.4 million of funding from Royal Bank of Scotland, was not disclosed,
