WEIR Group has landed its biggest-ever mining contract.

The £100 million deal will see the Glasgow-based engineering giant provide energy-saving solutions to a magnetite iron ore project in Western Australia. Weir will supply the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project with crushing and pump equipment, which it said will reduce energy consumption and wet tailings waste by more than 30 per cent compare with traditional mining technologies. Chief executive Jon Stanton said: “We are delighted to have secured this landmark contract, which is Weir’s largest-ever individual mining order.”
