WORK has begun on a project to turn a prominent Glasgow building into a leading creative workspace.

McLellan Works will offer a raft of office suites as well as significant retail and leisure space across a whole block on Sauchiehall Street.

The redevelopment of the property, which shares an entrance with the McLellan Galleries, begins as the Avenues project designed to revive the famous thoroughfare builds momentum, following the disruption caused by a series of major fires.

Bywater Properties, which has worked on high-profile developments in locations such as Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Smithfield in Belfast and Lambeth and Peckham in London. Is behind the McLellan Works project.

Principal Theo Michell said: “Following planning permission for McLellan Works we’ve been moving quickly to transform and revitalise this iconic building. Bywater is already reinvigorating streetscapes and developments in locations like London, Manchester and Belfast and sees McLellan Works as a brilliant opportunity for dynamic and entrepreneurial businesses to secure their place in the best new space to work in Glasgow city centre.”

McLellan works is located close to Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) and the CCA (Centre for Contemporary Arts).
