Inspirational ideology gets job done

It is an inspirational philosophy on the success of the business by Douglas Anderson, who runs GAP Group with his brother Iain, as pre-tax profits rose to an all-time high of £18.7 million in this its 50th year of hiring plant and equipment.

When asked if he was surprised that the business had grown to the scale it is today, Douglas Anderson replied: “I am only surprised when I think about it. I don’t think about it very often because I have found thinking about it doesn’t actually achieve anything. You just do what you do.”

Student flats kitted out with cinema

Soller Real Estate’s Base Glasgow, designed by Mosaic Architecture + Design, has opened its doors in time for the new student term.

Developed for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, it is equipped with a variety of facilities centred around the main social hub and spacious common room, with study areas, a large games room, a state-of-the-art gym, and multiple practice rooms which are perfect for music, dance or drama practice, all fair enough for such a student group. On-site cinema also helps.

Primark makes its point online

Reports suggested Primark, the retail chain that is doing well even without, unusually, any online shopping presence, had gone online.

The high street store opted for an online response, saying it had not entered a partnership with a third party marketplace.

The BBC reported that whoever was selling the Primark products was adding a mark-up. Primark Tweeted: “We encourage our customers to visit us in our stores to find the best value.”
