Those promoting meaningful shifts towards a more open, sustainable and innovative future for the Scottish economy will be celebrated at next weeks inaugural, Herald Pioneer Awards.

The event which is organised by The Herald and supported by CGI, the City of Glasgow College and Newton Property Management, is set to recognise and reward companies across all business sectors who have engaged in sustainability and innovation in climate change action, driving for a more sustainable Scotland.

Finalists from both businesses and individuals across 11 categories that recognise innovation, entrepreneurship, cultural change and sustainability will be rewarded.

Hosted by weather presenter Sean Batty, the awards will be presented at a black-tie awards ceremony which takes place on Wednesday, November 13 at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.

Lindsay McGranaghan, Senior Vice President, Scotland said: “CGI is looking forward to presenting the award for Innovation in STEM at the inaugural Herald Pioneer Awards. CGI recognises the growing need for expertise in STEM subjects in the Scottish economy and beyond. The high number of quality entries is a reflection of the great work being done in this space. Congratulations to all the Herald Pioneer Award finalists.”

Roy Gardner, Vice-Principal Corporate Development & Innovation, City of Glasgow College, added: “With four finalists in the SME Innovation category, we are looking forward to seeing the range of innovative solutions these businesses have created to tackle the impact of sustainability.”

Derek MacDonald, Joint Managing Director, Newton Property Management concluded: “The standard of the entrants to this year’s event is truly outstanding. It’s such a tough decision for the judges. Everyone on the shortlist is in fact a winner in our eyes.”
