PROPERTY and construction consultancy Hardies has continued to bulk up its presence in the west of Scotland with the acquisition of Glasgow chartered surveyors Allan & Hanel.

The deal comes after Hardies, which is headquartered in St Andrews, merged with Shepherd Chartered Surveyors in 2016 and acquired Glasgow construction cost consultants Binnie-McKenzie Partnership in 2017.

Taken together, the acquisitions have added £1 million to Hardies’ top line, which now stands at close to £7m.

Hardies partner Murray Warner said the firm had been able to pursue its Glasgow growth strategy as a direct result of the Shepherd deal.

“We have 10 offices across Scotland and, as part of our growth strategy, recognised a need for local quantity surveying expertise in Glasgow to complement our local Building Surveying team,” he said.

Allan & Hanel director Graeme Davidson added that his firm had been attracted by the opportunity to be part of a larger outfit as it will enable it to “bid for more public work and frameworks and expands the range of projects we can undertake for existing and new clients”.

He added that the deal also “presented the opportunity for founding director David Allan to retire”.
