SWAN Group, the affordable housing specialist, has been given the go-ahead for 100 new affordable in the north of Glasgow.

The Royston development is due for completion in 2021 when Swan Group will hand over the affordable homes to PfP Capital’s mid-market rent fund, part of the fund management business of developer and manager Places for People.

Phil McGinlay, managing director of Swan Group, said the push comes alongside others across the country.

He said: “The project in Royston is our second new development announced for Glasgow this year. This will make a vital contribution to the availability of affordable and social homes for Scotland’s biggest city.

“We are pleased to be working with PfP Capital on the Royston development, which will create a mix of high quality and affordable homes.

“It’s an exciting time for Swan Group, as we step up our programme of developments across the country, to meet growing demand.” Glasgow City Council approved the project.

William Kyle, of PfP Capital, hailed the partnership with Swan Group on its mid-market rent fund. He said: “These homes will be a valuable addition to the supply of affordable homes in Glasgow and will provide customers with the opportunity to rent affordably in close proximity to the city centre.”

The move comes after Swan Group secured a funding package worth £50 million to drive plans to build more than 3,000 homes in Scotland.

Meanwhile, Tulloch Homes confirmed 110 homes for Aviemore including a street called Santa Clause Drive, next to the access to the former Santa Claus Land, which closed 30 years ago, at Bynack Mor.
