A HEALTH and safety management software company has received a grant of £1.4million from Scotland’s enterprise agency to attract talent

and expand in

international markets.

The Scottish Enterprise Research and Development grant is part of a £4m investment SHE Software is making to adapt its technology platform, known as Assure, for the North American market.

The software offers a suite of reporting and monitoring tools to help health and safety managers across a range of industries identify and address risks more effectively.

The East Kilbride-based company was initially founded in 1995 and employs 100 across its office in the UK, the US, and New Zealand.

Matthew Elson, the chief executive, led the acquisition of the company in 2011. It received a £3m cash injection from NVM Private equity in 2018 to open its US office in Chicago. This stake in SHE is now owned by Mercia Asset Management after the fund manager acquired NVM’s venture capital trust business in December. The company was called Lexware International when it was founded and was sold to AEA Technology in 2003 for a seven-figure sum.

Mr Elson, who became SHE chief executive in 2014, said: “This support from Scottish Enterprise allows us to focus on ‘mobile-first’ technology across our Assure platform to align with changing expectations and

business demand.

“The grant also allows us to enhance and adapt the Assure platform for the North American market.”

Victoria Carmichael, director of strategic investment at Scottish Enterprise, said: “It is fantastic to witness the further development of this innovative software firm delivering digital solutions to traditional business processes as well as showcasing Scotland’s talented tech sector.”
