Glasgow chef Nico Simeone is set to open the sixth restaurant in his Six by Nico franchise as he takes “The Chippie” menu into London at the end of this month.

It is the Scots-Italian chef’s first foray into the London market, with the latest iteration of his revolving culinary hub to open on Fitzrovia’s Charlotte Street on March 31. The original Six by Nico launched in the Finnieston area of Glasgow in 2017.

All serve a six-course tasting menu that changes every six weeks, and which are inspired by places and memories.

“The Chippie” is based on a combination of Mr Simeone’s Italian background and his upbringing in Glasgow, where his family owned a chip shop. His career has included working at the Michelin-starred Number One at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh before launching his debut restaurant, “111 by Nico” in 2015 in Glasgow.

“We are very excited to launch in London with ‘The Chippie’ menu, the first in our series of evolving menus at Six by Nico in Fitzrovia,” he said.

“Most people are familiar with the tastes and scents of their local chip shop and we wanted to take the idea of the everyday chippie menu and reinvent it to create a playful food experience that guests would recognise and be amazed by.

“We can’t wait to bring a completely new offering and dining experience to the London restaurant scene and by challenging ourselves to change our menu and concept theme every six weeks, we feel we have the perfect recipe for an exciting culinary adventure for nut just our diners, but our team too.”

Mr Simeone opened his second Six by Nico in Edinburgh in 2018, followed by three new openings last year: Belfast, Manchester and Liverpool.
