A GLASGOW refrigeration and facilities management company has secured two significant new contracts from the Co-op.

City Building Engineering Services (CBES), which is part of Lord Willie Haughey’s City, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned facilities management (FM) companies, will provide a range of maintenance services over the contracts’ five-year lifespan.

These include fabric, plumbing, mechanical and electrical by a tech in van (TiV) model, which aims to enhance quality, workmanship and consistency across more than 1,300 food and funeral sites in the UK.

CBES has provided refrigeration maintenance services to the Co-op for the last 11 years. The new contracts, which start on April 1, will also see the addition of installation services across the 550 sites.

The firm said the new contracts mean that nearly 200 people will be employed, “enabling strong relationships to build locally between stores and their dedicated maintenance technician”.

Fraser Allan, managing director at CBES, described the contracts as a “fantastic opportunity for CBES to develop our close working relationship with the Co-op, delivering higher value and generating long term efficiencies”. He said: “The new contracts are testimony to our colleagues’ dedication and commitment, and the constructive solutions that CBES have continued to provide for more than a decade.”

The Co-op’s property, construction and commercial director, Andrew Lofty, said: “This long-term partnership approach has enabled us to develop a bespoke solution, resulting in a team of highly skilled dedicated engineers delivering fantastic services to sites in their local area.

“By combining our drive to improve customer experience and City’s refrigeration and FM expertise we look forward to delivering a number of efficiencies for our members and customers across the Co-op’s north region.

“We are delighted to confirm our partnership with City as part of a UK-wide framework to deliver comprehensive services to our food and funeral sites.”

CBES operates across a wide range of sectors including retail, commercial office, education, healthcare, the public sector, and industrial.
