DESPERATE situations require desperate remedies but never have we seen anything quite like the measures announced by the Chancellor over past weeks to support individuals and the economy amid the unfolding coronavirus tragedy.

At the time of going to press, we were getting an idea of what lockdown actually looks like and waiting for the latest fiscal measures from Rishi Sunak to help businesses, employees and hopefully at last, the millions of self-employed weather the coronavirus storm.

The long-term effect on our economy of this crisis remains entirely unclear, amid huge uncertainty.

Such is the pace of the unfolding crisis that this latest spring edition of Business HQ has largely steered clear of the crisis.

Instead, our main theme is Corporate Social Responsibility, a business model that has been growing since the last financial crisis and which may find a new prominence once this latest one has passed.

Elsewhere in the magazine we feature inspiring tales of great achievements in
business by Scotland’s finest.

Take care and see you again soon.
