JD Wetherspoon has invested £11 million to ensure its pubs comply with social distancing measures when they are given the green light to reopen.

Wetherspoon, which has around 70 pubs in Scotland, said the measures will lead to the employment of two full-time staff per pub who will be charged with regularly cleaning surfaces and touch points. This staffing requirement will be higher in bigger pubs. The firm said all pubs will have screens at tills, and screens to create seating areas where it is not possible to separate the tables to the social distancing requirement.
