HARRISON & Hetherington sold 100 clean cattle, 48 cast cows, 868 lambs, 98 hoggs and 282 cast ewes at St Boswells yesterday.
Fifty prime heifers sold to 236p/kg and averaged 217p (+3p), while 45 prime bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 211p (-1p).
In the rough ring cast cows sold to a top of £1,471 and 197p to average142 (-2p).
Prime lambs sold to £124 and 245p for Texels to average 221p overall (-21p), while prime hoggs peaked at £123 and 200p to average 171p.
In the cast sheep ring ewes averaged £78 (-£4) overall. Heavy ewes peaked at £117 for Suffolks and averaged £94, while light ewes sold to £81 for Cheviots and averaged £72.
The firm also sold 25 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 227p/kg and an average of 191p (-16p), while 24 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 187p (-10p). Twelve dairy bred prime bullocks sold to 168p and averaged 153p (-18p).
There was also a total of 71 young bulls at the sale which averaged 163p (+4p). The 46 beef-bred bulls sold to 220p and averaged 178p (+3p), while 25 dairy-bred bulls peaked at 169p and levelled at 135p (-5p).
In the rough ring 190 cast dairy cows sold to 153p and averaged 111p (+2p), while 131 cast beef cows peaked at 183p to average 134p (-5p). Eighteen cast bulls sold to 171p and averaged 137p (+13p).
There were also 1,607 prime lambs that sold to £127 and 300p to average 226p overall (-19p).
Cast sheep sold to £110 with 50 heavy ewes averaging £85 (+£1), while 31 light ewes peaked at £95 for a Greyfaced and levelled at £65 (+£9).
Messrs Craig Wilson sold 1,118 prime and cast sheep at Ayr yesterday. In line with other centres yesterday the 802 prime lambs followed the drop in price which became evident at the end of last week.
Top prices were £112 for a pen of Suffolk crosses and 244p/kg for a pen Beltex cross lambs to average 217p (-23p), while 77 prime hoggs peaked at £83. The 239 cast sheep sold to £158 for Texel ewes, while Mules peaked at £75 and Blackfaces to £63.
Lawrie and Symington sold 51 prime bullocks and heifers at Lanark yesterday which peaked at £1,558 and 260p/kg for heifers, while bullocks sold to £1390 and 234p.
Cast beef cows sold to £1,275 and 164p, while cast dairy cows topped at £1,045 and 148p.
The 337 prime lambs sold to £130 for a single Texel and to 290p/kg for Beltex to average 245p overall.
Cast sheep peaked at £169 for a Texel with Blackfaces selling to £76.
