Celestia UK, which develops antenna systems for tracking space satellites, is to create 18 new jobs after choosing Heriot-Watt University’s Research Park as its permanent base in the UK.

The move follows a successful five-month residency by Celestia at the university’s Global Research Innovation and Discovery (GRID) research facility. The new jobs, including engineers across several different disciplines, are being supported by a £2.5 million R&D grant from Scottish Enterprise.

Established in 2017, Celestia UK is part of the pan-European Celestia Technologies Group, which supplies technology systems and services to the space, aerospace, defence, telecommunications and scientific markets. Its chairman is Jose Alonso.
