INSURER American International Group has announced it is to extend its title partnership of the AIG Women’s Open by two years, to 2025.

It said the move demonstrates its “continued commitment to women’s golf “.

Under the agreement, the championship will now be known as the AIG Women’s Open as part of a rebrand undertaken by The R&A and AIG.

Peter Zaffino, of AIG, said: “For over 40 years, this iconic championship has provided a global stage to showcase world-class women’s golf. In the face of challenging global circumstances, we are pleased that our increased support of the AIG Women’s Open will enable these dedicated professionals to compete and break down barriers that will provide a lasting example.”
