Pollok scores The football world has not been immune from the fall-out from the Covid crisis, with the continuing absence of fans putting club budgets under serious pressure.

Against that backdrop, junior side Pollok FC has scored a welcome coup by securing fresh sponsorship from local housebuilder Westpoint Homes. The deal sees Westpoint become the main shirt sponsor for the club, having been a regular advertiser at its ground on the south side of Glasgow in recent seasons. The expanded partnership comes as the club moves into the West of Scotland Football League.

“We were keen to get involved with Pollok FC as we share the same passion for helping the local community,” said Westpoint finance director Ian Rigby. “Fans will have seen the advertising boards around the pitch for the past few seasons and we are delighted to expand our sponsorship to main shirt sponsor.”

Serve me a double Does Jean-Christophe Coutures know something we don’t? Not only is the chairman and chief executive of Chivas Brothers confident that the Scotch whisky industry will emerge strongly from the Covid crisis, he is hopeful of both a Brexit deal being secured by the end of the year, and an end to the punitive US tariffs on exports of single malt Scotch whisky.

“I am an optimistic person,” he said, when asked about Brexit. “If a glass is half empty I try to look at it as half full.”

We could certainly do with a few measures of that here at The Bottom Line. Bartender, make it a double.
