Tay Letting is expanding into Dundee with the acquisition of one of the city’s oldest property agencies.

The move to take over Lickley Proctor Lettings follows Glasgow-headquartered Tay’s launch into Edinburgh two years ago. It is Tay’s first acquisition, with the company said to be looking at further such opportunities.

Established more than 125 years ago, Lickley Proctor manages properties in Angus, Tayside, Fife and beyond. It adds approximately 300 properties to the Tay Lettings portfolio, taking the total number of properties managed to more than 1,400.

“Lickley Proctor is an excellent business with a fantastic reputation in the city of Dundee,” Mr Taylor said.

“Our success in Glasgow, and then in Edinburgh, has been down to the excellent service we provide. I believe by providing that same high-quality service in Dundee, and building on Lickley Proctor’s reputation, there’s huge potential.”

Tay’s Edinburgh office is headed by Malcolm Pickard, who is responsible for the company’s east coast operations. Tay also has an investment arm that has put more than £100 million into Scottish property on behalf of domestic and overseas clients.

Robert Murray of Lickley Proctor added: “It was absolutely vital that we sold to a business who could maintain our high standards for customer service and our company’s values. We’re proud of what we built and were utterly convinced by Tay’s vision for the company, as well as shared values and a commitment to client’s interests.”

Mr Taylor set up Tay Letting in August 2009 after quitting university at the age of 18 to start his own business. Based at Craighall Business Park, Tay Letting does work for high-end estate agents as well as legal, surveying and financial firms.

Mr Taylor is also co-owner of Taylor & Martin, the property management service launched with fellow director Michael Martin in 2013.
