WORK on designs for a 4,000-seat digital arena in Dundee’s revamped waterfront are to proceed, after an 18-month exclusivity agreement was struck between venue developer Northern Lights Arena Europe and the local council.

It is envisaged that the proposed venue, earmarked for a prominent site close to the V&A Dundee, would house an esports academy for further and higher education, as well as host more conventional leisure and indoor sports events.

Chris Turner, chief executive of NLAE, said: “We have been impressed with the forward-looking approach of Dundee City Council and their ambition to have a world class public space at the heart of Dundee.”
