Square the circle Glasgow Chamber of Commerce is aiming to shed light on how the circular economy can help the city’s recovery from the Covid crisis.
It is hosting a virtual event where speakers will discuss their experiences of circular practices to the benefit of economic growth, job creation and the development of innovative sustainable solutions. Get Inspired 2020, which will run from September 21 to 24, will feature presentations from businesses based in Glasgow, including DF Concerts, HFD Property Group, Eusebi’s Deli & Restaurant and Scottish Leather Group.
Senior director Alison McRae said: “The pandemic crisis has forced through a speed of adaptability that previously we might not have seen.”
Baptism of fire Julie Hesketh-Laird is no stranger to the challenges posed by the UK’s exit from the European Union, having occupied senior leadership roles with the Scotch Whisky Association and the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation in recent years. She will be tapping into that experience in her new role as strategy director at Food Standards Scotland. Among the immediate tasks will be “seeing through the FSS preparations for Brexit and its consequences”. Nothing like a quiet start to a new job, is there?
