HIGH-END Edinburgh jeweller Hamilton & Inches has revealed plans to revamp its George Street showroom.

The investment at the Grade A listed property, which dates from the 19th century, will touch all aspects of the five-story building, transforming is showroom, workshops and service department.

The jeweller, which has held a Royal Warrant for more than 120 years, said the investment signals its confidence in and support for the Edinburgh economy.

It is working alongside design practice Waldo Works and Simpson & Brown Architects on the project, which will create an expanded presence for the jeweller’s Rolex and Patek Philipp collections, private consultation rooms, and an upgraded services department, complete with “state-of-the-art” watch workshop.

Victoria Houghton, chief executive of Hamilton & Inches, said: “Hamilton & Inches has stood the test of time, with 154 years of passion, artistry and dedication to craftsmanship. Now, as a dynamic, independent business we are investing in our future, ensuring we preserve our heritage while also showcasing our broad, contemporary offering, from handcrafted pieces made in our onsite workshop, to leading global brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe.

“This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Hamilton & Inches. The showroom restoration will allow us to continue to provide unrivalled service in a spectacular setting, while upgraded workshop facilities will ensure the traditional skills of our craftsmen continue to flourish for the next 150 years, and beyond.”

Renovations are under way now, with the showroom closing from December 28 to January 26 to allow work to take place.
