FOUNDATIONS for a successful year are being laid by Glasgow-based construction and fit-out firm Pacific Building which has secured more than £6 million worth of business from 11 new contract wins across the UK, with potential projects worth £5.6m in the pipeline.

The contracts secured by Pacific, which operates out of premises at Hillington Park and employs 40 people, include projects at the Marine Hotel in North Berwick, Topgolf Surrey, and the new St Ellen’s Hospital in Livingston. These are in addition to various projects for long-term client Glasgow Airport.

New business has enabled Pacific to invest in a bespoke joinery workshop and machinery and recruit more staff, including managers, supervisors and additional skilled tradespeople.

Gerard McMahon, Pacific’s managing director, said: “This is a substantial amount of business vital to the future of the company and its employees – and the variety of the programmes of work demonstrate our versatility, professionalism and experience of delivering high-profile and high-end projects on time and on budget.”

The new business comes on the back of previously agreed projects to construct a new McDonald’s restaurant in Toryglen, Glasgow in the car park of the existing Asda supermarket, and a series of digital drive-thru projects for the fast-food giant across Scotland.

“This stream of work also allows us to invest further in our bespoke joinery workshop and continue to recruit new staff into the business, creating further employment opportunities,” said Mr McMahon, stating that Pacific had adopted a “proactive approach allied to a more focused pursuit of new work streams” during the past year.

Pacific, an employee-owned company, operates within various sectors including commercial, leisure and retail, and in “sensitive and secure locations” including airports. Its client base also includes Mitchells & Butlers and JD Wetherspoon.

It produces fixtures and fittings and other items associated with cafe furniture, waiting stations, bar tops, shelving, panelling, cabinetry, wall coverings, screens, storage, reception desks, covings and mouldings.
